Staying Cool during the Hot Days of Summer

Is it just me, or is getting harder to stay cool? It's been very hot outside and I've noticed my body isn't adjusted to the hot temperatures of summer yet! Too Hot to Handle My 22-mile bike ride this past weekend required two 24 oz water bottles, a scarf with pellets to soak in water to keep my neck cold and a large ice water from the restaurant at breakfast. Even so, according to my FitBit I had an hour and 23 minutes of peak heart rate, which by any of my standards is too much. How to Beat the Heat

When temperatures soar into the mid 90's and the humidity feels so thick you can cut it with a knife, staying cool can be a real challenge. Maybe it is my imagination, but I think it has become harder to stay cool and beat the heat after I turned 50 years old. I've had heat problems in June, July and August in the past few years, so I try to be very aware of my body. Don't be embarrassed to stop if you feel you are getting overheated! Staying Cool During Summer Heat While Bike Riding or Running

The weather forecast was supposed to be the low 90's today and my bike group has a long bike ride planned in Cleveland, starting before noon and probably not finishing until well after 4 pm. Of course, we won't be riding the entire time. We'll be taking photos (there are 3 Cleveland signs on the route) and probably stopping at a marina on Lake Erie for lunch.
